Diving into the SANDBOX

ALPHA Season 2 Tour


This week, Sandbox released its Alpha Season 2. This is a selection of games and experiences representing a small taste of what to expect when the full Sandbox metaverse releases. For those that are not familiar with the Sandbox, The Sandbox is a virtual world where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences in the Ethereum blockchain. This is built with voxel architecture like Minecraft or Roblox, but with a higher level of detail.

Pulse has been working on building Sandbox experiences for a while in preparation for the metaverse launch, so it was extremely exciting to see what others are building in this world. This is an open Alpha so anyone can jump in and give it a test drive, but we want to share a bit of our experience.


When I first entered the Sandbox, I was impressed by the scale and attention to detail in all the experiences. From creating clean modern architecture, to a jungle, to a night club, the designers created beautiful immersive environments that were clever and fun to explore. I especially enjoyed the attention to detail in each unique area as well as easter eggs sprinkled throughout.




The video we created shows a clip from our experience which ends with in the XYZ Club. As an event designer, I found this world especially interesting. This surreal club featured 4 exclusive DJ tracks by BLOND:ISH. The world and the music felt in perfect harmony. This world brought to life how metaverse events will function as a wonderful platform for brands to interact with their audience. It can also bring gamification, networking, NFTs and brand immersion together into one easy to use experience.



The Sandbox already has many large brands and companies jumping in including Addidas, the Walking Dead, Smurfs, Deadmau5, Ubisoft, Hell's Kitchen, and Snoop Dogg to name a few. As more brands decide to enter the metaverse, the Sandbox along with Decentraland will be the best-in-class examples others will be compared to. The Alpha 2 is just scratching the surface of what is to come. Soon creators will be able to add monetization, exclusive access to areas, reward visitors, add more NFT integrations, livestreams and much more.

Sandbox is one of several metaverses that Pulse Studio is currently building in. Each metaverse has its own advantages and disadvantages, so we recommend starting with the end experience goals in mind first and then picking the platform that will be the best fit. We are helping guide our clients through this process. With that said, the Sandbox is a leader in the metaverse space and will be used to create many events and brand experiences in the future.

The final launch of the Sandbox platform date is not announced yet, but one would imagine they are on track for later this year. Stay tuned!
